Aemilia Scott is a filmmaker living in Los Angeles and Chicago. As a precocious high school student she studied advanced college level biology at the University of Michigan before she turned her interests to photography and history. She graduated from Columbia University in New York with honors, having studied History and Photography, training under street photographer Thomas Roma and conceptual photographer Dana Hoey.
She moved to Chicago and performed professionally with The Second City, writing and improvising comedy in those hallowed halls. She is a founding member of The Best Church of God, a satirical performance group called "Best of Chicago" by The Chicago Reader.
She has written and directed commercial work for Sandwich Video, Silicon Valley’s premiere agency/production house. She has directed three commercial spots for the satirical website The Onion, as well as original series and branded content for web heavy-hitters CLEVVER, GURL and DEFY MEDIA. She has freelanced at FCB with Hog Butcher, an elite team of copywriters culled from Second City veterans, who bring funny and humanity to the ad world.
Her first narrative film, BEST IF USED BY, was an official selection of Clermont Ferrand, Aspen Shortsfest, Palm Springs International, Rhode Island International, Seattle International, among others. It won a BAFTA honorary mention at Aspen, Best Screenplay and Audience Award at the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival, and BEST SHORT of 2013 by New Filmmakers Los Angeles. Her Second film, FOR A GOOD TIME, premiered as Aspen Shortsfest, and her third film, SHOT, premiered at Chicago International Film Fest.
She has a feature length screenplay, BIRTHDAY SUIT, which is in development. It has been invited to Tribeca All Access (Tribeca Film Week), IFP Film Week New York, and the Chicago International Film Festival’s Pitch Competition, at which the script won first place.
